Extractor fans

This is mainly a topic for bathrooms, shower rooms or kitchens, but not limited to this.
As fans are an electric motor the regulations say they have to have an isolator switch which is seperate to the light switch which may activate the fan.
The fan can be set to come on with the light or via a sensor for humidity, and go off with the light or via a timer.
Fans can be ceiling mounted or wall mounted or actually mounted in the roof space and only a grill in the room.
Rooms containing a bath or shower are special areas and any new work needs to be notified to the local authority.

By hiring an electrician who is registered as a Competent Person and Part P approved you can be certain that any new wiring will meet the latest standards and you will not have the hassle and expense of notifying the building control as this will be done for you. You will receive notification from the local authority confirming this as well as an Installation certificate, where the work required makes it necessary.
